Hi, I'm Rob Tregaskes
I'm the Founder of Patching. I love using technology to make life easier, and I love how improving IT security often makes the employee experience more slick - everything 'just works'. I have been engrossed by computers, software and technology since an early age, building my first computer as a teenager. A technical career plan meant Engineering was an obvious choice for University, but I had too much energy for sitting around, so I decided to chase adventure as an Army Officer on deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan instead.
After an eventful few years I decided I had ticked the action box and wanted to build a career in the Private Sector. I completed an MBA and worked in various operational and leadership roles in Investment Banking, Startups and most recently Private Equity.
In late 2021 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Melanoma with a prognosis measured in weeks. Fortunately I responded well to treatment and was back at work by late 2022.
In 2025 with my health seemingly stable I decided I wanted to go self employed for greater flexibility and impact. My focus is on 'fixing' client IT; significantly reducing cyber risk and improving operational scalability in the process.
For now, Patching is just me, Rob, so our sweet spot is SMEs in the 5-100 FTE range and companies that are looking for, or have been backed by, institutional capital, either PE or VC. However, I have set the company up with a full IT stack so that I can scale up or team up with others easily if I want to; in the meantime it keeps me current on the tools and their capabilities regardless of what my clients use.
